MARTHA POLLATSEK

Martha was born and grew up in New York City where she studied at the High School of Music and Art and the State University of New York.  After graduation she continued her art studies at the Woodstock campus of the Art Students League. When she moved to the coastal area of BC some 30 years ago, the power of the sea and mountains evoked an enduring emotional response. Her focus on landscapes and the people who inhabit them continues to be a central theme in her artwork. The Group of Seven (and its inspiration, The Impressionists) has been an important influence on her work.
